As the number of Filipinos who are overweight and obese has been rising across all life stages for the past years according to the latest Expanded National Nutrition Survey, this year’s celebration shall not only focus on the conduct of one major event but shall be accompanied with a social media campaign where valuable information about obesity can be accessed by the public at any time. In line with this year’s global theme, the campaign will use conversations and stories to help people correct misconceptions surrounding obesity, acknowledge its complexities, and take effective, collective action. Along with the other member agencies of the Ad Hoc Group on Addressing Overweight and Obesity (i.e., DOH, UNICEF, WHO PH, PASOO, DOST-FNRI, and NCP), the NNC will organize a hybrid forum in observance of WOD 2024 on 5 March 2024 at 9:00 AM (PH Standard Time).
