An exponential rise in both adult & childhood obesity are one of the most important public health challenges of the 21stcentury. The greatest number of people living with obesity are in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs), with numbers more than doubling across all LMICs. India is not an exception to this.
Dr. Priti Phatale, pioneer of childhood & adolescence obesity sub speciality, and Dr. Hemant Phatale, an endocrinologist & diabetologist of Samrat Endocrine Institute of Obesity, Diabetes & Thyroid, Aurangabad, India, are working hard on exponential rise in obesity & it’s comorbidities.
Opening ceremony of awareness campaign
The opening ceremony of the awareness campaign was done by inaugurating the information brochure of detailed information on obesity & its consequences in regional language by the auspicious hands of Mr. Ulhas Shiurkar, director of Deogiri institute of engineering & management studies. The information in the brochure was well appreciated by Mr. Shiurkar & who acknowledged that such great tireless efforts by Dr. Priti & Dr. Hemant will be the ideal examples for others to work for this rising burden of obesity.

Awareness campaign Shri Saraswati Bhuvan High School
The second awareness campaign was organized on 1st March at the level of secondary & higher secondary renowned High School ‘Shri Saraswati Bhuvan High School ’ to school authorities and 500+ boys doing enlightenment work in the field of education by Dr. Priti Phatale addressing:
- What is obesity?
- What are its future consequences?
- If we tackle in time how it is rewarding
- Various preventive strategies
Awareness campaign at Dr Desarda Public School
The third awareness campaign was held on 3rd March in Dr. Desarda Public School to school authorities, teachers & 150+ students.
